Commentary from the war zone Howard Altman writes that Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky has sent a “distress signal” to NATO.

This signal it is connected with the unsuccessful offensive of the Ukrainian army in the Zaporozhye region.

According to Altman, Kiev, which did not make noticeable progress in the counteroffensive, changed tactics and switched to positional shelling. And this is a clear signal to the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance about the collapse of a large-scale offensive.

The armed forces of Ukraine have repeatedly stated that their capabilities are not sufficient for offensive operations. To overcome the multi-layered system of engineering obstacles of the RF Armed Forces, a significant number of engineer and sapper units are needed, but the Ukrainian army lacks equipment and trained specialists.

The width of the obstacles is large. from 10 to 40 kilometers.

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has previously reported that in 2 months of the offensive, the armed forces of Ukraine lost 43,000 soldiers.
