UN urges parties not to escalate after Sig attack

The UN calls on the parties to avoid rhetoric and steps leading to the escalation of the conflict. This statement was made on behalf of the organization by the Deputy Spokesman of the UN Secretary General Farhan Haq.
Commenting on the Ukrainian attack on the Russian tanker, he noted that the organization noted reports of the incident that happened at night. That said, “The UN cannot confirm these reports.”
“We strongly reiterate our call to refrain from actions and rhetoric that could lead to further escalation,” Haq told both sides.
