The spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said that Moscow is shocked by the news of the death of Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei. The diplomat died on Saturday at the age of 64.
“The official condolences of the Russian Foreign Ministry will be published soon,” Zakharova added.
It was previously reported that a visit was planned for November 27-28 of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Minsk, was planning a meeting with Makei.
Belarusian Foreign Ministry Press Secretary Anatoly Glaz said the minister's death was sudden, the diplomat continued to work the day before: “Nothing was foreshadowed.”
