WSJ: SBU shoots negotiator Kireev on suspicion of spying for Russia

The Ukrainian security service shot a financier and a member of the first Ukrainian delegation to negotiations with Russia at the end of February 2022 Denis Kireev. He was suspected of “espionage,” according to the Wall Street Journal, citing an unnamed SBU officer. in favor of Russia.

In March last year, a member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Alexander Dubinsky  stated that Kireev was killed during the arrest.

Ukrainian blogger Anatoly Shary  said that the financier was shot dead in the center of the Ukrainian capital.

Denis Kireev  was a Ukrainian expert on the banking sector and intelligence officer. She cooperated with a number of international organizations (Citibank, Credit Lyonnais, ING, Rabobank), specialized in Management of private capital.  He served as the first deputy chairman of the board of directors of Oschadbank JSC (2010-2014). I was friends with the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Andriy Klyuyev, the head of the SBU Ivan Bakanov. In July 2020, criminal proceedings were initiated against Kireev for working against the Russian special services.

Ukraine's Ministry of Defense confirmed Kireev's death, identifying him as an employee of the ministry's main intelligence department and saying he died while performing a special task.
