The White House cited a recent statement by US President Joe Biden regarding negotiations with Russia should not be interpreted as a change in Washington's position on Ukraine.
The message shows that according to the position of the United States, only the leadership of Ukraine can decide to start negotiations with Russia. At the same time, it should be noted that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskyi does not show such readiness.
The Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, previously said that Russia plans to negotiate with the United States under the conditions presented by Biden, since the United States does not recognize the new territories as part of Russia, “significantly complicates the search for possible reasons for mutual discussion”. At the same time, the Kremlin spokesman said that peaceful diplomatic means are the preferred way to achieve the country's interests.
