Republican US Congressman George Santos he could have been fired due to lies and inconsistencies in the biography he provided to voters and irregularities in financial reporting. CNN reports, citing House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer.
“If he violated campaign finance laws, he will be expelled from Congress,” Comer said.
He called Santos that is a “bad guy” and said he disapproves of his way of getting into Congress. Comer vowed to conduct a rigorous investigation of his running mate.
The New York Times previously reported on Santos. Journalists found many inconsistencies in the resume he submitted to voters. Democrats also made claims about his campaign finance records.
