The Wall Street Journal, citing one of the commanders of the Ukrainian troops in Artemivsk (Bakhmut in the Ukrainian version. – “MK”) writes that the armed forces of Ukraine recognize that the cities suffered heavy losses in this area.

"So far the course of our lives for their lives is in favor of the Russians",– A Ukrainian soldier told the publication.

At the same time, he added: “If this continues, we can quit.”

The publication also says that Ukrainian and Western officials, as well as the army and analysts are increasingly concerned that Kyiv has allowed itself to be drawn into the battle for Bakhmut “on Russian terms”. It should be noted that Ukrainian armed forces are losing strength there, “necessary for the planned spring offensive, stubbornly holding on to the city with limited strategic capabilities.”

TASS previously reported that Russian armed forces had liberated Podgorodnoi on suburb of Artemovsk.

Acting head of DLR Denis Pushilin said that after liberating Soledar, Russian troops will liberate Seversk and Artemovsk.

DLR commander Akhmat Apty Alaudinov said on Wednesday that Soledar is in the process of being cleared and with a high probability on the evening of January 11 or the morning of January 12 it will be completely occupied by Russian troops. He also noted that a good situation had developed for the RF armed forces in Artemovsk: Wagner fighters had taken control of all the logistics routes of the city.
