Some politicians in the West have begun to warn Ukraine against advancing on Crimea. Tamila Tasheva, the presidential deputy in Crimea, made such a statement in an interview with the Polish news agency PAP.

She noted that the West fears that the Ukrainian attack on Crimea “could lead to a nuclear war.” However, Tasheva herself is not sure that Moscow will make such a decision. On the other hand, she noted that the West is calling on Kiev to abandon attempts to return the peninsula.

“They argue that Crimea can indeed be returned, but the potential consequences will be huge, both for the people of the peninsula and for Ukraine as a whole . They believe that we should completely abandon attempts to return it,” said Tasheva.

The Russian side has repeatedly spoken about the inadmissibility of starting a nuclear war or blackmail. She also stated that Moscow adheres to the nuclear doctrine.
