The Taliban went to Moscow for guarantees of non-intervention

“They are right that any resistance is sponsored from abroad”

A Taliban delegation will visit Russia to attend a “Moscow-format” meeting on Afghanistan. The meeting will be attended by representatives of ten countries, who will discuss the political and military situation in the country and the entire Central Asian region. Experts believe that the Taliban will demand guarantees from neighboring states that they will not interfere in Afghan affairs and will raise a number of military issues.

The internal situation in Afghanistan remains tense. After the Taliban movement (recognized as terrorist and banned in the Russian Federation) took power in the country, the radicals failed to gain full control of many regions. They are opposed by ISIS terrorists (recognized as terrorists and banned in the Russian Federation), as well as a number of national armed formations in Panjshir and other provinces.

In recent weeks, a wave of terrorist attacks has swept the country, killing hundreds of people. The attacks are carried out by groups of suicide bombers and lone gunmen. Among other things, there is a loss of the Taliban's armed forces, whose soldiers are regularly attacked.

The Taliban's relations with neighboring governments remain ambiguous. Many countries in the region, such as Iran and Tajikistan, hold large military formations on the Afghan border because they fear the infiltration of armed militant forces.

The Taliban intends to settle the internal situation in the country because, as well as agreeing with neighbors to restore border communications. They accuse some of their neighbors of supporting the resistance forces within the country and intend to obtain guarantees from them that they will not interfere in the internal affairs of Afghanistan. However, as military expert Aleksey Valyuzhenich noted in an interview with the MK, the Taliban will have to moderate if it wants constructive cooperation.

– In general, there is exactly what I predicted a few months ago, when it was clear that the Taliban would take Kabul. They all said that the Taliban “gave up the practice of religious oppression, gave everyone rights, and generally not the boys who were before.” Now the situation in many regions of the country is such that representatives of local national and religious minorities are being evicted from their homes, and this is happening “by law”. They show the Taliban's order, and if you please leave. Because only the Taliban are entitled to good houses and land. And now a wave of attacks on Shiite Muslims has swept across the country: in Kandahar, Kunduz. The Taliban say it condemns the case, but does not intend to defend itself against “unbelievers.” So my prediction turned out to be correct.

– They have such a fad in mind that any resistance to their power is sponsored from abroad. That the troops of Ahmad Massoud (leader of the anti-Tibetan resistance in Punjir – MK ) to obtain aid from Tajikistan and Shiite resistance from Iran. Now the situation in the country is such that millions of people may be on the verge of starvation. The peasants did not plow all year, they did not sow, there was no harvest. Pashtuns are driven from their places of grain and deprived of their homes. This is an ideal reason for future resistance, popular uprisings and more – civil war. The Taliban must therefore provide guarantees on the eve of the internal crisis that local actions will not be supported from abroad.

– Point of the second “Taliban program” – the requirement for large-scale deliveries of aid through the UN, the Red Cross, etc. It is not possible to feed everyone, but those most affected can get a gag with free food. At least for a while. On the other hand, they have a reliable way of blackmail. It's about refugees. If hundreds of thousands of hungry people rush to neighboring countries, it will not seem enough to anyone. The Taliban as a whole therefore have a strong position and are about to achieve what they want. They will certainly not lose weight, but they will put pressure on their neighbors and will continue to put pressure on them.
