The Duma adopted a law on fines for sending Russian data through foreign messengers

The State Duma adopted a law on administrative responsibility for state officials and financial organizations that use foreign instant messengers to send data of Russian citizens.< /p>

It is envisaged that fines will be introduced only for those who include foreign messengers in their work processes related to the circulation of personal data and financial information.

Civil servants are prohibited from using foreign messengers within the framework of the fulfillment of a state contract or assignment of a municipality and financial organizations are prohibited from connecting them to their information systems. However, any other communication of state officials or bank employees in foreign wiretapping (including business) is not prohibited and will not be punished, said Anton Gorelkin, deputy head of the information technology committee, earlier in his Telegram channel.

Proposed fine for officials it will be from 30 to 50 thousand rubles, and for legal entities – from 100 to 700 thousand rubles, according to the documents accompanying the account.
