The son of former KGB and FSB officer Alexander Litvinenko, who died of polonium-210 poisoning, said he was being drafted into the Russian Armed Forces as part of the partial mobilization announced on September 21.

Anatoly Litvinenko has lived in the United Kingdom for two decades, where his father was granted political asylum in 2000. Litvinenko Sr. left Russia with his family after numerous episodes of criticism of Russian authorities, particularly President Vladimir Putin and the FSB. In the years 1999-2000, several criminal proceedings against Litvinenko were initiated in the Russian Federation.

In November 2006, Alexander Litvinenko died in London of poisoning with a radioactive substance. The British side accused the Russian secret services of involvement in Litvinenko's death, Moscow denied all accusations.

In mid-October, Putin announced that the mobilization would end within two weeks. In a number of regions, including Moscow, the completion of mobilization activities was announced before the end of October. Subsequently, the Kremlin declared that a separate decree to end mobilization was not needed. In particular, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, said that Putin, after consulting with lawyers, came to the conclusion that such a separate normative act was not needed. On Friday, December 3, Peskov commented on reports in a number of media and social networks about a possible “second wave” of the so-called mobilization. "There is no information on this topic,– Peskov said. – You know all the relevant words of the president that it is done.
