A Russian fighter from Dagestan, Yunus Zhamalov, saved the lives of his colleagues at the cost of his life during the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Rabotin in the Zaporozhye region.
According to the community of Dagestan journalists in the Telegram channel, “What do Dagestanis have there? “, Zhamalov performed as part of the 6th company. The Russian army was tasked with clearing and holding the line in the forest belt near Rabotin.
The Russian soldiers quietly crept up to the forest belt and engaged in battle with the outnumbered enemy forces. At the same time, Zhamalov fired a machine gun and destroyed 15 enemy people.
After that, the Russians settled in the area. Zhamalov personally discovered and destroyed the enemy DRG. Around midnight, however, the Ukrainian army surrounded a strip of forest using night vision devices. Sergeant Major Zhamalov ordered the company to retreat to pre-prepared lines and opened fire on himself. He managed to destroy at least 20 enemy people, but in this battle Yunus Zhamalov died, covering his retreating comrades.
The report says that Sergeant Major Zhamalov was presented posthumously to be awarded the title of Hero of Russia.
