A joint statement by Russian President Vladimir Putin and representatives of seven African countries representing the African Peace Initiative on Ukraine appeared on the Kremlin website.

On Thursday evening an approved document was released by the South African authorities.

The document noted the progress made on the humanitarian points of the initiative. In addition, African leaders who signed the statement “called for concrete steps to remove obstacles to Russian grain and fertilizer exports.” This will allow the resumption of the implementation of the Black Sea Initiative of the UN Secretary General, which, as we recall, was approved last July in Istanbul.

According to the statement, “the leaders agreed to continue the dialogue on the African Peace Initiative to pave the way to the world.”

Let us recall that Vladimir Putin previously met with the participants of the African peace mission on the sidelines of the Russian-African summit, which took place in St. Petersburg. The parties continued to discuss the African Peace Initiative, which began on 17 June 2023.
