The Ombudsman of Ukraine proposed to abolish the concept of “limited fitness for military service”

In Ukraine, they suggested removing “limited” eligible status' for military service. This was stated by the Commissioner for Human Rights Dmitry Lubinets. He emphasized that if a person is not able to hold a gun and fight on the front line, he can be useful elsewhere.

So the Ombudsman suggested sending such people to serve at the headquarters. In addition, in his opinion, citizens with limited fitness can serve in the missile forces or work in the IT field.

Lubinets recalled that a certificate was often issued to a person who had no health problems. On the contrary, people who had diseases documented during many years of observation were eligible for conscription.
