Chapter Khakassia, communist Valentin Konovalov may leave the post before the scheduled date. The Kremlin considers it insufficiently prepared for such a responsible position.

Sources close to the Kremlin informed that Konovalov's resignation was indeed being talked about. According to them, he can resign in the winter or spring of next year, although they will not officially expire until 2023.

Valentinu Konovalov was headed by Khakassie in 2018. He ran in the elections as a “technical candidate”, but the protest The United States defeated Viktor Zimin by voting, who resigned from the elections in the second round. Konovalov is thus the only governor of the systemic opposition whose candidacy has not been agreed with the Kremlin.

Today, Konovalov's rating is relatively low. The level of support began to decline in 2019, when a major municipal accident occurred in the city of Chakass in Montenegro, at which time the governor flew to Sochi for an investment forum. In addition, in April 2020, Konovalov's deputy Sergei Novikov, who headed the Ministry of Construction of the republic, was detained on suspicion of accepting a bribe. All this eventually led to a reduction in citizens' trust.
