According to the head of the Hungarian Ministry of Defense, Budapest is a conscientious member of the alliance. Therefore, a year before the set date, Hungary can reach this level of military spending. However, a number of NATO states will increase military spending above 2% of GDP.
The Hungarian defense minister also noted the country's contribution to strengthening NATO's eastern flank. According to him, it was the Hungarian task force that was the first to reach the level of full combat capability of all four new groups of the alliance.
