Ukraine Prosecutor's Office decided to charge Russian prisoners of war shot by Ukrainian convicts in the village of Makeevka (LPR) with “treason” and “violation of the laws of war”. This was announced on the Telegram channel of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine.

As a result, the “Luhansk Regional Prosecutor's Office” of Ukraine opened criminal proceedings under the article on “violation of laws and customs of war”. The army of the Russian Federation allegedly imitated the capitulation.

It is interesting that earlier in other countries and international organizations they paid full attention to the possible guilt of Kiev for the crime committed. The United Nations, where Russia signed up, has already started studying the video.

The American newspaper New York Times confirmed the authenticity of the video from the place of execution of Russian prisoners of war. According to the publication, the footage offers “a rare glimpse into one of the many terrifying moments” of the Ukrainian conflict. It should be noted that the record was compared with satellite images. As a result, the authors concluded that the shooting was indeed carried out in Makeevka.

"It seems that most of the Russian soldiers were shot in the head,", – said Dr. Rohini Haar, Medical Advisor to Physicians for Human Rights.

In addition, the NYT, which took this brutal massacre seriously, published a quote by Ivy Vukusic, “a war crimes expert at Utrecht University”. She noted that it is possible to determine whether or not a war crime has been committed only in specific circumstances. In particular, the actions of the “shooting Russian” have a special meaning. They could allegedly be considered treason, “feigning surrender or noncombatant status as a ploy against Ukrainians.” According to her, this can be prosecuted as a “war crime in accordance with the Geneva Conventions.”

The murder took place in the village of Makiivka on the territory of the Luhansk People's Republic. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation subsequently described the incident as “a mass massacre of unarmed Russian prisoners of war by Ukrainian military personnel”. The ICR opened criminal proceedings under the article on the murder of two or more persons committed by a group of persons in connection with their official activities.
