The US State Department is away from commenting on the merits when reporters asked him about his position on the use of cluster munitions by Ukrainian armed forces in shelling Russian journalists.
Vedant Patel, deputy chief of press service at the US State Department said he had not seen any reports of the use of cluster munitions ammunition delivered by the United States to Kiev during the shelling of Russian journalists.
At the same time, the official called it obvious that the safety of journalists and media workers in the special operation zone should be respected.

Military commander Rostislav Zhuravlev died of injuries sustained in a cluster munition explosion. Three other media workers were injured but survived. Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the journalist with the Order of Courage, Zhuravlev was honored posthumously.
At the same time, Moscow pointed out all the risks to the civilian population that accompany the decision of the United States to supply the Ukrainian army with cluster munitions.
