Flag of Serbia in v dressing room of its team for the World Cup caused a scandal provoked by representatives of the Kosovo football federation.
The Serbian football team allegedly displayed the country's flag, which depicts the country's territory, including Kosovo. The flag also bears the inscription: “There will be no surrender.”
In Kosovo, they called it a “chauvinistic act” that has no place in sports, especially at the World Cup. The Kosovars described the lack of response from FIFA as unacceptable and demanded that the organization change its rules and that the Serbs should be punished for their “hateful, xenophobic and genocidal attitude towards Kosovo.”
Kosovo is partially recognized as a country located on territory of Serbia. The Russian Federation does not recognize the independence of the region.
