Russian Airlines Volga-Dnepr, which is engaged in freight transport will no longer fly through the airspace of Belarus due to sanctions and demands from the British authorities. RBC claims this with reference to the data of the FlightRadar24 portal.
“We have really decided not to temporarily use the airspace of Belarus for the flights of our aircraft,” said a company representative.
The European Union, the United Kingdom and the United States have previously imposed sanctions on Belarus. The restrictions mainly affected the air navigation service provider “Belaeronavigatsia”. The British Civil Aviation Authority has banned cooperation with the company. “Volga-Dnepr” follows the order of this department, because it complies with all international rules, the newspaper reports, referring to a source close to the airline.
Earlier after the incident with the forced landing of Ryanair's planes at Minsk Airport, the European Union recommended that European airlines refuse to fly over Belarus. Belavia airlines also fly through the airspace of European countries.
