Helsinki is afraid Vladimir Putin's statement on the accession of the Republics of Donbass, Kherson and Zaporozhye to Russia forever. Finland's President Sauli admitted this in an interview with the Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter.

As Sauli Niinistö explained, the Russian President went broke in his understanding, so to speak – like playing poker. At the same time, the head of Finland said that he is interested in the one who goes into himself without being able to win everything. “What does it mean when you lose when you bet everything?” Niinisto asked.

The Finnish president also spoke about Russia's underestimated determination of the Ukrainians. According to Niinistö, Joseph Stalin made the same mistake before the start of the Soviet-Finnish war. According to him, the leader of the nations counted on the capture of Helsinki by Soviet troops within two weeks.

The Finnish president also answered the question of how to conclude a peace agreement in Ukraine. He noted that “it is difficult to return one's territory”. Niinistö also recalled that at one time the leadership of Finland had to make a difficult decision to lose part of its territory in order to conclude a peace treaty with the USSR. At the same time, the President emphasized that Ukrainians themselves must determine what a just world will be for them.
