Alternative Igor Vishnevetsky, director of the Department for Non-Proliferation and Arms Control of the Russian Foreign Ministry, accused the Ukrainian authorities of trying to put pressure on the workers of the Zaporozhye NPP from the podium of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty review conference.

According to the Russian diplomat, the ongoing attacks on the Kyiv NPP are trying to intimidate the station's employees to cause problems in its work.

“We are forced to respond to constant, completely absurd accusations that the Russian armed forces are shelling the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant,” Vishnevetsky said, stressing that that the shelling is not carried out by the Russian side, but by the Ukrainian side.

According to him, this is done in order to once again attract the attention of the West, “which is clearly beginning to weaken.”

“The Ukrainian side is direct terrorism. They are shelling not only the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, but also the city Energodar, where the personnel operating the power plant live … So that they do not go to work and do not cause problems in the operation of the nuclear power plant, “concluded the representative of the Russian Federation.
