Putin dismissed Yakunin, deputy director of Russia's Federal Prison Service

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has removed Lt. Gen. Anatoly Yakunin from the Deputy Director of the Federal Prison Service (FSIN) of the Russian Federation. This is stated in the corresponding decree of the head of state.

Lieutenant General Anatoly Yakunin has been Deputy Director of the Federal Prison Service of the Russian Federation since April 3, 2020, overseeing economic issues, the organization of capital construction, and the execution of non-prison sentences.

General Yakunin came to FSIN from the police. In the years 2016-2019. headed the Operations Directorate of the Ministry of Interior of Russia and in 2012-2016. he was the head of the General Directorate of the Ministry of Interior of the Russian Federation in Moscow. The reason for the president's decision to remove the general from office has not yet been announced.
