Serbian President Alexander Vučić said that the police of the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo will launch an operation against Serbs in the northern part of the republic at midnight.
“I think we have never been in a more difficult and complicated situation than today. Why did I say that? The Pristina regime is trying to take advantage of the mood in the world by presenting itself as a victim,” he said.
Vučić added that Kosovo Albanian troops had already advanced to the Jarine and Brnjak crossings. They are likely to arrest all holders of Serbian documents.
In northern Kosovo, as in 1999, church and monastery bells are said to be ringing continuously. According to some reports, Serbia is moving planes to the border with Kosovo.
Local publications reported that Kosovo Albanians had gathered near the southern part of the bridge in the town of Kosovka-Mitrovica. It leads to the northern, Serbian side. Air raid sirens rang through the city, Serbs set up barricades on the narrow road in Rudara, on the Priština-Leposavič highway and near the town of Zvecan.
