Events in Ukraine are a “proxy war” between the West and Russia, writes Politico.

According to an article about the Pentagon's efforts to increase the pace of the defense industry in the face of the transfer of large volumes of weapons to Kyiv, Dec. 3 at the annual Reagan National Defense Forum in California , where military leaders, members of Congress and heads of defense industry companies met, there was a feeling that the bad old days had come again, and the United States and its allies in Europe were still not fully up to the challenge.

As highlighted in publication, while China is still seen as the biggest long-term threat to the United States, it has been overshadowed by the need to shift into much higher gear to address another problem: the bitter proxy war with Russia in Ukraine that has rattled the Pentagon and the defense industry.

Previously, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Alexander Gr ushko said that there is no need to talk about any warming of relations with Moscow, the Western military-political bloc is waging a proxy war against Russia. At the same time, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg declared that NATO is not a party to the conflict in Ukraine.
