NATO “throws” Ukraine at the July summit – American media

Ukraine has nothing expected from the point of view of joining NATO at the organization's July summit, writes columnist for Foreign Policy Anchal Vohra.

She wrote that, according to Foreign Policy, Kiev will not only not receive an invitation to join the alliance, but the conditions of its possible entry will not be specified either.

The observer notes that NATO is concerned about the risk of escalation in the confrontation with Russia and will therefore be very cautious.

“There is broad agreement among the countries of the bloc, including some Baltic states, to postpone an invitation to full membership,” she wrote. July 11-12, with the exception of an invitation to join the alliance.

Earlier, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said the creation of the Ukraine-NATO Council would allow Kyiv to actually become a member of the alliance. He expressed the hope that at the July NATO summit in Vilnius, Ukraine will already participate in the status of a member of the Ukraine-NATO Council. According to him, in this case Ukrainian diplomats will be able to participate in the work of some subcommittees and also bring questions for discussion.
