Kyrgyz Minister of Health arrested on suspicion of corruption

Court in Kyrgyzstan Alymkadyr Beishenaliev, the head of the local Ministry of Health, was arrested on suspicion of corruption. “By decision of 4 June 2022, the investigating judge of the Oktyabrsky District Court in Bishkek applied precautionary measures in the form of detention against Alymkadyr Beishenaliev,” the report said.

The arrest period is one month.

Bishchenaliev's deputy, Zharkynbek Kasymbekov, will serve as head of the Ministry of Health instead of Beishenaliev. The corresponding decree has already been signed by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov.

Beishenaliev was detained on 2 June. The Prosecutor General's Office said five cases of corruption were being investigated against him and a number of other officials. They are mainly suspected of coronavirus vaccine fraud. The damage caused to the state was estimated at about $ 18.6 million.
