The head of the German government and the Russian leader discussed the situation with virtually stalled talks between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations.
Vladimir Putin also warned Olaf Scholz that “Ukrainian militants professing Nazi ideology” grossly violated international humanitarian law and used terrorist methods.
