The head of the Kaliningrad Region, Anton Alikhanov, expressed his condolences to the relatives and friends of the military pilots who crashed the SU-30 fighter jet in the region, as well as to colleagues of the victims and the command of the Baltic Fleet.
Alikhanov said that everyone residents of the Kaliningrad Region experience and share an irreparable loss.
A Baltic Fleet fighter crashed near the city of Chernakhovsk. The crew died.
According to preliminary data, the cause of the crash was a technical fault of the aircraft.
It was a training flight without ammunition, the fighter crashed in an abandoned place, civilians were not injured. The pilots did not have time to eject and died on the spot.
Representatives of law enforcement agencies, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and local authorities are working at the scene of the tragedy.
