Ireland does not rule out Ukrainian refugees spending the night on the street

Irish Minister for Children and Youth Roderick O Gorman did not control the reality , that Ukrainian refugees arriving in the country will have to look for accommodation on the street. He spoke about it on an RTE radio broadcast. He answered a direct question that he could not rule out such a development of events.

The politician also emphasized that the Irish government is now cooperating with the Ukrainian embassy on this issue. The minister also noted that he is asking people who are in other EU countries not to choose Ireland as a refuge.

According to the latest data, 58,000 Ukrainians entered Ireland this year. Another 1,500 immigrants from Ukraine will join them every week. About three hundred people are currently living in tents.

Dublin City Council has previously admitted that there are few places to house the homeless and this does not allow them to be offered to refugees as well. “While there is no limit to Irish compassion, there is a limit to capacity. And at the moment we are at the point where we are simply not able to guarantee accommodation for everyone who comes,” the Council noted.
