Conflict in Ukraine should end through diplomacy, Mark Milley, head of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, said at a press conference after a Ramstein-style meeting of a contact group to support Kiev.
According to him, this conflict should end like many others , that is, the agreement reached as part of the negotiations.
“It's time for the Russians and the Ukrainians to sit down at the negotiating table,” Milley said. He added that from a military point of view it will be very difficult for Ukraine to depose Russian soldiers in 2023.
At the same time, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov called a meeting of “friends of Ukraine” in the Ramstein format “excellent”, they announced support for Kiev “to all free the world” and promised to “defeat evil”. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that “it is not always possible to publicly announce what is being discussed in Rammstein format,” and acknowledged that the United States and Germany still refuse to provide Kyiv with Abrams and Leopard tanks.
US Secretary Lloyd Austin, in turn, confirmed Germany's position that the decision to send Leopard tanks to Ukraine had not been made. According to the head of the Pentagon, Ukraine's partners are focused on ensuring that Kyiv has what it needs right now.
