Procedure for probable release of a citizen of the Russian Federation Alexandra Franchetti, detained in Prague, should not be swift. This was stated by a high-ranking source close to the Ministry of Justice of the Czech Republic.

The reports that the Russian could be extradited to the Kiev authorities on Monday, September 13, are therefore not true. This process can take “quite a long time”. According to the source, there is a procedure for local courts to decide on the possibility of extradition. It focuses on respecting the legality and rights of the citizen, whose extradition is requested by another country.

The issuing country must send an official request to the Czech Republic to issue an arrest warrant within 30 days of the date of detention, stating the justified reasons for its request. This will be the first step in the release decision process.

It was previously announced that the Czech authorities allegedly intend to deport a Russian citizen Alexander Franchetti, detained at Prague Airport, already in September 13th place.

Meanwhile, TFR Chairman Alexander Bastrykin commissioned a Russian citizen at Prague Airport to study the circumstances of the detention. He was reported detained under an international arrest warrant issued by Ukraine.
