ICC reacts to Russia's response after Putin's arrest warrant

Chairman The assembly of Rome Statute member states said it considered Russia's stance on the issue of an “arrest warrant” for the president of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, an “attempt to frustrate efforts to bring him to justice.”

The organization said it “reaffirms its confidence in the court.” and “commitment to uphold the principles enshrined in the Rome Statute”.

Commenting on the ICC's decision on the “arrest warrant”, the Russian Foreign Ministry representative Maria Zakharova said that the decisions of this structure are legally invalid for Russia, because Russia with him has never cooperated and does not intend to cooperate. Many other Russian politicians have expressed a similar position.

Many countries, including Russia, China, India and the United States, are not members of the ICC.
