General Sobolev predicted the fate of PMC “Wagner” fighters after the attempted uprising

Deputy of the State Duma retired Lieutenant General Viktor Sobolev expressed the opinion that PMC “Wagner” fighters who took part in the uprising will probably not be able to go to serve in Belarus after Yevgeny Prigozhin.

“Those who did not directly participate in the rebellion, if they want, they will sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense,” he told Rise in an interview, adding that he would then return to the special military operation zone.

The general characterized the situation with those who participated in the uprising , as still unclear, but expressed confidence that they would not be persecuted.

“Those who participated will probably be sent home, as I understand it,” he said, adding that the fighters would not be persecuted on their merits.

Sobolev expressed doubt that Alexander Lukashenko would allow the establishment of a private military company on the territory of Belarus based on the lessons of Russia.
