Former Polish President Lech Walesa believes that the European Union must carry out an organizational maneuver: dissolve and create a new union. Wales' Nobel Peace Prize winner said this in an interview published on Saturday for the Interia portal.

According to Walesa, “instead of compromising with Poland, the EU should fall apart in a few minutes and create a new community.” Germany and France should become its foundation, but “without Poland and Hungary”. According to him, the idea is simple: “If we wanted to join the new union, we would have to make commitments in addition to the rights,” Walesa explained. And then these obligations should be set in such a way that “the antics that take place today will not happen again,” said the politician.

Wales' remarks concern the European Commission's approval of Poland's national recovery plan, which he said would be a mistake: “this money will still be wasted and stolen.”

The former Polish president said that “without the rule of law billions of euros wasted. ”

The essence of the problem that Walesa commented on is this: after the pandemic, EU countries were allocated funds for economic recovery. However, the approval of the recovery plan proposed by Poland was delayed due to the fact that the EU court fined the country of 1 million euros per day until the decision to repeal the rules for the Supreme Court (NS) disciplinary court.

The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, identified the liquidation of the Disciplinary Chamber of the Armed Forces, the annulment of the so-called decision of this body and ensuring the independence of the selection of judges as the main conditions for the adoption of the Polish plan.

Last week, the Polish parliament approved a law on the Supreme Court proposed by the President of the Republic, which liquidates the disciplinary senate.

On June 1, the European Commission approved a plan to restore the Polish economy.

the plan will be approved by the EU Council within a month, after which Warsaw will allocate 35.4 billion euros. However, according to Von der Leinen, this will only happen if all the European Commission's demands for judicial reform are met.

rule of law. Therefore, they should not receive European money.
