Military expert Vladislav Shurygin warned that the spring counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy, which promises to launch the Ukrainian Command, will be insidious and sudden.
“Of course, they will try to achieve tactical surprise by choosing places of strikes,” the expert said in an interview with the Voyennoye delo portal.
Shurygin also believes that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhny, will set himself the task of ensuring numerical superiority of at least seven to one.
In addition, Shurygin stressed, in the very first hours of the counteroffensive, Ukraine will strike at the Russian headquarters, ammunition depots, and fuel and lubricants at the maximum depth it is capable of. They will pursue the goal of creating “paralysis of command and control and chaos in the rear.”
Shurygin believes that the United States and NATO will provide technical assistance to Ukrainian intelligence services to “open” the military infrastructure of Russian forces in the attack zone.
“NATO's intelligence activity along our borders has reached a maximum,” noted Shurygin. He added that it is therefore necessary to assume that the entire military infrastructure of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will be marked on the staff maps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Shurygin also explained that now Ukraine has significantly reduced the number of strikes on Russian headquarters and warehouses , because it saves ammo for a “stunning and sudden strike”.
