The European Commission announced that The EU has agreed to exclude Russian gas from joint purchase contracts.

The statement clarifies that the issue was discussed at an informal meeting of EU energy ministers in Brussels.

The volume of joint purchases in 2023 should represent at least 15% of the gas storage capacity of EU member states, which is 13.5 billion cubic meters.

Gas will be purchased together on global markets. Russian gas will thus be completely excluded from this volume.
