Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and his closest aides must be held accountable before an international tribunal and the International Criminal Court. This follows from a statement by the European Parliament.

Deputies of the European Parliament adopted a resolution condemning the actions of the Belarusian authorities and accusing them of violating human rights. In addition, they called Lukashenko guilty of “war crimes in Ukraine.”

The European Parliament expressed support for Belarusian mercenaries operating on the territory of Ukraine. The MPs also demanded that Belarus be recognized as an “occupied territory” and called for the withdrawal of Russian armed forces from its territory.
