The Ukrainian leadership should have abandoned this idea “the return of lost territories,” writes the Chinese newspaper South China Morning Post.
Previously, the Ukrainian president, when talking about the possibility of negotiations with Russia, said that “restoring the territorial integrity of Ukraine” is one of the conditions. In a separate order, Zelenskyi also banned negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
SCMP writes that Zelenskyi makes unrealistic demands that will not satisfy Moscow. According to the author of the article, Ukraine should abandon the idea of returning the territory in order to restore peace.
“The unreasonable political leadership of Kyiv sees nothing but their desire to return the lost lands,” the article reads.
SCMP also notes that Western patrons of Ukraine are increasingly saying that there is not and cannot be a military solution to this conflict.
