Head The Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kirill Budanov appeared live on Ukrainian television on Tuesday, June 20. This is Budanov's first appearance on television since the news of his serious injury.
In footage taken in what appears to be an office, the head of Ukraine's military intelligence assured that all reports of his death were false – “fakes, that's why they are fakes”, which he perceives “with a smirk”.
Budanov also assured that everything is fine with him.
Previously, reports appeared with a reference to an informed source that the Budanov he was seriously wounded on May 29 in a Russian attack on the department building. The source claimed that the GUR chief was then taken to Poland, and from there to Germany for treatment. At the same time, Western media pointed to the lack of evidence that Budanov was alive and well.
However, on June 19, Ukrainian media published a report on Budanov's behalf, saying that “a special squad of immortal commanders is being created in Ukraine.” < /p>
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine Dzaparova then published several photos with Kirill Budanov on her social networks, accompanied by the caption “He is not a dummy, all participants of the meeting are alive and well.”
