Use of violent firearms weapons has become an “epidemic” for the United States. This view was expressed by President Joe Biden. He urged Congress to urgently take some action to combat it. The head of state reminded that in 48 days of the year, Americans have already experienced 73 cases of mass executions. Therefore, “thoughts and prayers are no longer enough.”

Biden calls for a ban on assault weapons in the United States. He points out that background checks should be done carefully on gun buyers. And also strengthen the requirement for safe storage of rifles and pistols. The president emphasized that manufacturers who “knowingly distribute weapons” to the civilian population should be held accountable.

Biden's speech followed the incident in Mississippi. There has been a series of shootings in Tate County. Six people died as a result. The suspect was detained. His motives are not yet known.
