The Chinese Foreign Ministry protested to the United States over President Joe Biden's remarks about Chinese President Xi Jinping. In Beijing, the American politician's statement was called “extremely irresponsible” and a serious violation of diplomatic etiquette.

On Wednesday, June 21, the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning, announced this.

“The US side's statements are extremely absurd, extremely irresponsible, contrary to facts, a serious violation of diplomatic etiquette, a serious attack on China's political dignity and an open political provocation,” she said, adding that Beijing expressed strong displeasure and strongly protests.

Earlier, Biden spoke about the incident with the Chinese balloon that was shot down over US territory. The president said he did not think Xi Jinping had full information about the incident and was “very upset” about it. The politician also said it was “a great shame for dictators”.

Biden made the scandalous statement just 24 hours after US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken's visit to Beijing ended. US secretaries of state have not visited China in the past five years.
