Riga Regional Court Condemns Latvian Human Rights defender Alexander Gaponenko for 10 months in prison and a two-year term for “anti-state speech”, EADaily informed. We are talking about the positions that remained in 2015.

In his remarks, Gaponenko was indignant at the march of supporters of the Latvian Waffen SS legion in Riga, pointing to the celebration of Nazism in the country, which leads to the division of people into “supreme” and “Low” degree. The prosecutor's office considered these statements an expression of “ethnic hatred” towards Latvians. It is noted that Latvians who read these posts may have “unpleasant feelings”.
