According to Zelenskyi, he would like to see Beijing on his side, but it seems unlikely. The president emphasized that he sees an opportunity for China to “pragmatically evaluate” what is happening in Ukraine.
Zelensky expressed his belief that if the Chinese leadership enters into an open alliance with the Russian Federation, it will lead to a new world war. “China is aware of this,” Zelenskiy emphasized.
He also recalled that the Chinese authorities pledged to “protect the territorial integrity of Ukraine” after Kyiv gave up its nuclear weapons and signed the Budapest Memorandum.
