Admiral of the Turkish Navy Retired Cem Gürdeniz called for the country's withdrawal from NATO, RIA Novosti quotes him.

The admiral believes that the biggest threat to Turkey at the moment is the West, which, among other things, promotes the creation of an independent Kurdish state.

He noted that Turkey receives absolutely no help from the EU or NATO in all its problems, and the plans of these organizations are in conflict with Ankara's interests.

“Turkey needs to leave NATO because of the events surrounding Ukraine war and the settlement of accounts planned by the United States these days in the Pacific Ocean,” said the admiral, stressing that his country could be drawn into the conflict in Ukraine.

Gürdeniz noted that in the event of a conflict between NATO and Russia federation, Turkey would have to close its straits to Russian ships, increasing the likelihood of using nuclear weapons.

The admiral is sure that Washington has been using Turkey since 1945, and his country must get rid of such dependence and continue its independent political direction.
