Trump is listed as a defendant, the counts include: “conspiracy to defraud the United States,” “conspiracy against rights,” “conspiracy to obstruct official proceedings” and “obstruction, attempt to obstruct official proceedings.” On January 6, 2021, supporters of Republican Trump, who was then the US leader, stormed the US Congress building to prevent the approval of the results of the November 2020 presidential election, won by Democrat Joe Biden. In May, the Department of Justice and US Attorney General Merrick Garland said authorities had secured more than 600 convictions against those involved in the attack.
