Turkey's deepening economic and trade ties with Russia, bolstered by a cordial relationship between Erdogan and Putin, have angered the West, which wants to create a united international front against Moscow, according to Bloomberg.

According to the report, the US delegation led by Elizabeth Rosenberg, Deputy Finance Minister for Terrorist Financing and Financial Crime, has already started a series of meetings in Ankara and Istanbul with Turkish officials and business groups. According to the publication, the issue of compliance with financial sanctions imposed on Russia is discussed at these meetings. In addition, the US is trying to force Ankara to take a tougher stance towards Moscow.

US Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo previously sent a letter to several Turkish business groups warning of the consequences of doing business in Russia.

< p>Recall that today Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that at the last meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, he agreed to create a gas hub in Turkey. “Europe can use Russian gas through Turkey,” Erdogan said.
