Former White House Special Representative for Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad said there was an agreement between the Taliban (banned in the Russian Federation) and the United States to fight the Islamic State terrorist group (banned in the Russian Federation) in Afghanistan.
These agreements were kept secret at the request of the Taliban to prevent their disclosure.
In September, Taliban-related sources announced the arrest of a Shahid Qari Naim Chaparhari. The man is said to be the governor of the Islamic State, which is banned in Russia, in the province of Nangarhar.
