One of the commanders told the soldiers during the shelling that he was no longer their sergeant and told them to “check .”

“We were taken to schools, then loaded into armored vehicles and sent to dig for a landing,” said POW Valery Mishchenko.

According to Mishchenko, the oldest was a sergeant at the time. During the shelling, he climbed into the trench and told the soldiers: “I'm no longer your sergeant, tick, I'm no longer your commander.”

According to Mishchenko, his subordinates decided to surrender. A group of soldiers, whom they say they do not consider themselves to be and call themselves conscripts, came out of the country with their hands raised and surrendered to the Russian army.
