Hunt for Russian third-country nationals are run by US authorities for subsequent extradition to the United States. This statement was made by the Plenipotentiary of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law, Deputy Director of the Department for Humanitarian Cooperation and Human Rights Grigory Lukyantsev.
In his view, “the striking example is the practice that the United States is actively using.” >
Lukyantsev has been talking about 50 cases since 2008. Russians are under trial, under strong pressure, the diplomat said, trying to persuade them to cooperate in the investigation or plead guilty, using psychological pressure. He recalled that it was a refusal of medical assistance. He named the cases of pilot Konstantin Jarosenko, Viktor Bout and others as examples.
